This guide explains how to install, activate, configure, display and translate YouTube Channel Pro for Joomla.

📦 Installation

Extract the main archive downloaded from AllForJoomla. The Joomla installation package is located inside this archive and is named youtubechannelpro-package.zip.

  1. Open the extension installer in your Joomla Administrator.
  2. Upload and install youtubechannelpro-package.zip.
  3. Open the Joomla Plugins manager, find System - YouTube Channel Pro and make sure the plugin is enabled.
Important: Install youtubechannelpro-package.zip from inside the downloaded archive, not the main archive itself.

🔑 License Activation

Activate your license to enable automatic extension updates.

  1. Open Components > YouTube Channel Pro > Options.
  2. Find the Premium License Key field.
  3. Sign in to your account on AllForJoomla.com and open Purchased extensions.
  4. Copy your License Key and paste it into the Premium License Key field.
  5. Save the component options.

After activation, your website can automatically check for available YouTube Channel Pro updates.

⚙️ Create and Configure a Widget

Widget creation and management is available in Components > YouTube Channel Pro.

Create a new widget or open an existing one to use the integrated visual builder. The preview is updated while you change the widget settings.

Select a YouTube Channel

  1. Enter the YouTube channel URL or @name.
  2. Select the matching YouTube channel.
  3. Configure the widget using the available settings tabs.
  4. Save the widget when the configuration is complete.

Main Settings

The main settings control the general appearance and dimensions of the widget.

You can configure the background color, Light or Dark color scheme, widget width and widget height.

Header and Navigation Menu

The HEADER settings control the YouTube channel information displayed above the content.

You can show or hide the channel header and configure individual elements such as the cover image, channel logo, logo shape, channel title, available channel statistics and channel description.

The navigation menu can also be enabled or disabled. Each content section in the menu can be controlled independently:

  • Latest Videos — recently published regular videos
  • Popular Videos — popular regular videos
  • Uploads — channel uploads
  • Latest Shorts — recently published YouTube Shorts
  • Popular Shorts — popular YouTube Shorts
  • Playlists — channel playlists

The Playlists item opens playlists as a separate section of the widget. You can also use the playlist include and exclude settings to control which playlists are available.

Videos Layout

The VIDEOS settings control how video items are arranged inside the widget.

You can enable or disable the Load more function and configure the number of items per page, number of columns and spacing between items.

Responsive Breakpoints

Responsive breakpoints let you define a different number of columns for different screen widths.

Add the required maximum screen width and specify how many columns should be displayed at that width. This allows the same widget to use different layouts on desktop, tablet and mobile screens.

Individual Video Settings

The VIDEO settings control the appearance and information displayed for individual video items.

You can select a video presentation theme, including Default, Flipcards, Circles1 and Circles2.

You can also configure thumbnail quality and choose whether to display the video title, description, available statistics and duration.

Video Playback

Enable Play in popup if you want videos to open in an embedded YouTube player without leaving the current page.

If Play in popup is disabled, the widget does not load the embedded YouTube video player directly on the page.

🛡️ GDPR-Friendly Media Loading

YouTube Channel Pro supports GDPR-Friendly Media Loading for images used by the widget.

To enable it, open the YouTube Channel Pro component options, find Media Display Mode and select GDPR-Friendly Media Loading.

When this mode is enabled, supported YouTube images are downloaded to your Joomla website and served to visitors from your own server instead of being loaded directly from YouTube media servers.

GDPR-Friendly Media Loading applies to images only. YouTube videos remain hosted on YouTube servers.

If you want to avoid loading the YouTube video player directly while visitors browse the widget, also disable the Play in popup option in the widget's VIDEO settings.

With GDPR-Friendly Media Loading enabled and Play in popup disabled, the widget can display its supported images locally without embedding the YouTube video player on the page.

GDPR-Friendly Media Loading helps reduce direct connections between website visitors and third-party media servers. It should not be interpreted as a guarantee that the entire Joomla website is automatically GDPR compliant.

📍 Shortcode

Each saved widget has its own shortcode.

  1. Open Components > YouTube Channel Pro.
  2. Find the required widget in the widgets list.
  3. Copy its shortcode from the Shortcode column.
  4. Paste the shortcode where you want the widget to appear.

You can place the shortcode inside Joomla article content, a Custom HTML module, a template position or another layout that processes Joomla content plugins.

🌐 Translation

Quick Widget Translation

Use Joomla Language Overrides when you only need to translate individual labels displayed by the widget.

The available language constants include:

  • COM_YOUTUBECHANNELPRO_VIEWS
  • COM_YOUTUBECHANNELPRO_SUBSCRIBERS
  • COM_YOUTUBECHANNELPRO_VIDEOS
  • COM_YOUTUBECHANNELPRO_SHOW_MORE
  • COM_YOUTUBECHANNELPRO_SHOW_LESS
  • COM_YOUTUBECHANNELPRO_LOAD_MORE
  • COM_YOUTUBECHANNELPRO_NO_VIDEOS_FOUND

To create a language override:

  1. Open Extensions > Language > Overrides.
  2. Select your website language in the filtering options.
  3. Click New.
  4. Copy the required constant into the Language Constant field.
  5. Enter the translated text into the Text field.
  6. Select For Both Locations.
  7. Save the override.

Repeat these steps for each label that you want to translate.

Full Extension Translation

To translate the complete extension, copy and translate its language files:

  • /administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_youtubechannelpro.ini
  • /administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_youtubechannelpro.sys.ini

For example, to create an Italian translation:

  1. Copy both English language files.
  2. Rename them to it-IT.com_youtubechannelpro.ini and it-IT.com_youtubechannelpro.sys.ini.
  3. Translate the copied files into Italian.
  4. Place them in /administrator/language/it-IT/.
